Reports coming in of a very serious accident in Fairbanks, of a C-54 reportedly crashing after climbing to only 1,500 feet or so. Crew status presently unknown but photographs look very troubling.
It was one of just three airworthy DC-4 /C-54 types.

With horrific speed, an engine exploded and control was lost immediately. First responders reported ‘nothing left’.

It is reported to have had an engine fire shortly after take-off. I fear for the crew…
