CAC Boomerang Windscreen Frame

Can anyone out there give me an idea as to how much a complete windscreen frame for a CAC Boomerang fighter would be worth and if there is a market for them. I found two in a creek bed at the old Macrossan base about 15 years ago. They have been hanging in my shed ever since.

Doug please contact me on discreet

Hi there Doug, i’m restoring two Boomerangs at the moment in Caboolture, Qld and assisting with two others ( 1 in Brisbane, 1 in melbourne). Presently, I am searching for a windscreen assembly in Good condition. My email is flyboy@iprimus.com.au.

Boomerang

Thanks for that fellas. I only have one now as the other one is now hanging in the Australian War Memorial after being refurbished by the RAAF. A mate of mine’s brother was a F111 pilot at the time and he organised it. I actually met Matt Denning a couple of years ago when he was still rebuilding his aircraft at Towoomba and told him that I still had a windscreen frame. He did not need one at the time and was obviously very busy as his Boomerang was very nearly completed. I would happily give it to someone who would put it on a potential flyer. I couldn’t think of anything better than to see it back in the air on a classic war bird again. Still I will keep asking around there is no hurry.

Cheers
Doug

Hi Douglas – I agree with my esteemed collegues and would add that if you get in touch with Matt Denning I am sure he could steer you to a good home for them and give some idea of price – Just Google him and Boomerang and I’m sure he will turn up

Douglas,
You could drop the folk at the Moorabbin Air Museum in Melbourne a line. Last time I was there in March, they were busy restoring a Boomerang. They’ve changed the name of the museum recently, but google “Moorabbin Air Museum” will send you in the right direction.

Doug,

Why dont you place an ad’ in Classic Wings Downunder ?

As there is currently one in there in the latest issue for a cache of parts.

Or just give the editor, Graham Orphan, a ring. He might know of someone who wants them ?
