Cadman Brothers Invader restoration

Any news on this restoration? The airframe was imported over a decade ago together with a spare fuselage I think. There were plans to rebuild it to stock condition but nothing ever heard since. Is it in storage?

Cheers

hi,
just to set the record straight.ralph did no work on the airframe whatso ever.i did.i stripped and repaired the mid fuselage section prior to repainting and overhauling various items for it.we overhauled and repainted the rear tail section as well.the aircraft now resides in france after a deal and should be back in the air in about five years time.i stayed with the plane up till its move to norfolk and helped to pack her for the trip.we saved her from the scrapyard and that really mattered to us.we have saved so many things fom the cutting torch including the b26k nose that was sold on.it was going to be melted down by courtesy if we couldnt get it in the container.various names were found scribed into the fuselage mid section when i stripped her and some addresses tie in with her previous owners.

Hello guys, I saw the old girl earlier on this year. The Centre section is stored outside and has been for as long as I can remember, the nose section is also sitting outside looking quite sorry for itself. Ralph would work on the airframe if payment was forthcoming I should think, he virtually finished the centre section restoration, structurally, but it had to be moved outside when other projects needed the undercover storage space, can’t see what good it’s doing for the airframe but, as Firebird mentioned, the owners have other projects which they value more 🙁

I remember hearing back around 1988-89 that one of the Norwegian A-26 pilots had been to see the plane. He said at time that he didn’t think it would fly for at least a decade. He got that one right! Too bad, as from what I understand it is a very stock airframe which really should be made flyable again. Did the plane come with rebuilt engines at the time, or were they in need of a total refurbish? Has anyone shot photos of the plane recently up in Norfolk?

Her fuselage is stored inside and the wing outside . It would be cheaper to buy on in good condition in the US rather than contemplate doing anything with her now.

Yes, believe it went to Manston, then maybe upto Norfolk.

Is this the Ex-Southend (non-museum) machine?

I thought it went to Canterbury

They also have a B-26K nose section, which I recently inquired about, and was told that both where in store with Ralph Hull at Hull Aero, who at present, is too busy to commence ‘work’ on them, so thanks for confirming that Yak 11.

Cheers…. 🙂

There was a post recently on another forum regarding this plane. The moderator of the group had been in touch with Rex Cadman who explained that the plane is in store, but could be made available for sale! Is there any photos of this plane as it sits today?

Ron and Rex are far too wrapped up in very large and expensive AFV’s and the running of the War-In-Peace show at Beltring to get to grips with the restoration of the Invader…..
And as for paying someone else to do anything on it….. 😮 😉

I would be gobsmacked to see anything ever done to this airframe whilst still in their ownership.

Some of it is. It’s a big old beast when in a dismantled state.

Last spotted stored in a dismantled state in North Norfolk. Saw it on the ground in September last year but flew over a couple of months ago and it was still there, don’t think anything has been done to it in 10 years or so.
