hi Ben

There is no need to know Portuguese if you know English 🙂 This is under an EU program target at young people doing volunteering service in other countries of the EU. Travel, accommodation and a stipend for current expenses will be provided. Besides working on aircraft restoration, Portuguese language and culture courses are also provided.

If you’re interested please send an email to the address in the first post stating your motivation and expectations so we can speak better.

cheers and many thanks for your interest.

Definitely of interest – what aircraft types would a successful applicant be working on?

[SIZE=”3″][COLOR=”DarkGreen”]Yep, if I was only 35 years younger:p

I just looked up the musuem,

“Recognized by the Portuguese Institute of the Museums, it still doesn’t have a proper area. At the moment they are repairing a North American T-6G “Texan”, which can be seen at Tires airbase in Sintra by contacting the project chief, Mr. Munkelt Gonçalves. For further details, call ahead or check the website”.

That’s handy! I just hope they don’t ask anyone to take up the floor panels of the Broussard….

Hi all

Besides it’s own planes the major work being done right now is for a Harvard IV, static, for Museu do Ar (Portuguese Air Force museum). If this goes well there is a chance we will do a static restoration also in a F84 (fingers crossed).

Ric, this is a EU program targeted at Youth Volunteering. Meaning the main targets is to get European youths to do volunteer work in foreign countries and get acquainted with different cultures and ways of living, while doing volunteer work.

We shall do a Restoration Initiation Course and you will get hands on work for the duration. We will not provide any sort of certificate like a professional school or something of the sort. I think in the end you can put it on your CV but I think the experience is the most valuable thing you will get from this.

Sounds to be an ideal prospect for somebody on a gap year with an interest in aviation.

Thanks,

This is being cooked up under the “Youth in Action” program of the EU. Has I said, the main target of the program is to give youths a chance of experience different cultures in the EU while doing volunteering work. There are several initiatives being done by the EU on this policy.
