Hi all, i’m new to this forum so i’m hoping that you will all be nice to me;)
Im a lecturer in Mech eng at a College on the UK East coast, i’ve been looking for a small gas turbine for some time now to train our kids in the pricipals of gas flow. It doesnt need to be a runner but the more complete the better. We had an offer a couple of years back from KLM, only we are a bit short of space for a 17′ long turbofan so the smaller the better really. We have a cutaway centrifugal flow GT that im sure we could swap if it helped sweeten the deal.

I have been talking to the Heli museum in Somerset but as yet I have no answer. They certainly have loads of engines there, more than they need anyhow.

I know I’d rather look at bits of metal and cut open turbines, than studying fluid dynamics – looking at a running gas turbine would definitely have got me hooked.
I wonder what happens to baby helicopter (B0 105 etc) engines when they are flight expired?

These are only level 2 and 3 guys, bits of metal get them exited then we can hit them with the heavy stuff once we have them hooked.

Wouldn’t it be more useful to just study the thermo and fluid dynamics than look at bits of metal in a turbine? :confused:
