Hi
Can any of you Lancaster experts identify any of these parts ?

2nd pic looks like the back of the beam approach gauge.

Thanks 682al
I think I will have to take some better photos with something to give an idea of size but I’m at work at the moment. It would be nice to know what the parts are as my intention is to offer them and the other parts I have got to a museum.
Thanks for looking
Andy

Photo 2 looks like the back plate of an electrically operated gauge – possibly one of the R.P.M. Indicators.
Item 5 may be part of a boost gauge.
I don’t think No. 3 shows the back of the gyro on the bomb sighting head – I’ve got half a dozen and none look like that. That said, I can’t offer any alternative just now.
A suppressor is used to prevent radio interference from other parts of an aircraft’s electrical system. They were dotted around the airframe, as near as possible to the apparatus in question. Having looked at your bit by opening the photo rather than squinting at the small one, I’m not so sure that’s what it is. I would have expected to see screened cable and there’s no sign of it here.

Thanks anyway. I,m fairly sure there is a Bomb sight on display in the hanger at East Kirkby so I will use that as an excuse for another visit 😀

Sorry Andy, but I am not really an expert on these. I just know that I have seen this on a Canberra and they used the same gyro mechanism as the artificial horizon, but with a mechanical connection to the plane glass. I don`t even know how the sight works, but I would be interested to know all the same.

Thanks Merlinpete.
Dont suppose you have a picture of it on a Bomb sight ?

I am pretty sure this one is the rear cover for the vacuum gyro on the gyro bomb sight.

This part has got me stumped. I asked a workmate who is ex RAF but no luck there (He wandered off muttering how old do you think I am) One part of it seems to have a push over connection for a rubber pipe ?

Sorry didnt think about scale. It took me long enough to re size them 😮
When you say attached to a suppresor – A suppresor for what ?

The brass plate in the last photo is part of an instrument, maybe an Air Speed Indicator.
And the knurled sleeve in the fourth photo looks as though it may once have been attached to a suppressor.
Something to give scale would have been useful!
