I am thinking of taking my nipper to an airshow combined with a fun overnight camp.
Are there any forum readers who can offer serious(ish!) advice on stuff like the best shows to go to with camping grounds nearby, other things for kids to do nearby (if they get a bit bored with planes – and that’s ok with me, don’t want to ram it down throat 🙂 )
By the way, I don’t mind paying my way to a show to help pay for the event – not into gettting something for nowt….

i was going to mention Elvington – i was going to camp it last year, apparently something vey noisey went out early on (poss the Jag) and woke just about everyone on the site up – wouldn’t that be a great alarm clock!

In the far-off halcyon days of Fighter Meet we used to park a motor caravan at The Squadron, a mere twelve paces from the bar.
Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night passed in an Abbot-fuelled blur. (As did a lot of the show)

Elvington
Hi
I belive numerous people camp/caravan at the Elvington Airshow (August b/h). If i’m remembering correctly they usually have a boucy castle/karting etc.
What there is to do during the night though i wouldn’t know.
Hope this may be of help.

I’m going to put a request on the Air forces Monthly BB to see if they know.

Iwould also be interested in this sort of thing, for places like fairford and the like, where the missus doesnt exactly enjoy an early morning (she’s the only one that drives!)
