hmmm now the collector ring discharges the correct side so the engine must be correct side up so we need to work out a carb that is DD and would fit the 1340

lucky we know everything 1340:eek:

MMM – see what you mean – dont see how he dealt with the carb either – the trunking doesnt extend that far
AFAIK you cannot alter the crank location and as you say, the scoop on top, rather than underneath suggests its inverted
They’ve mackled up a four bladed prop for it too..
What a strange carry on!

TT, I cant work it out because the carb would have to be re fitted, or its a down draft and not the Harvard type BUT can you alter the crank access to be handed ie right?, sump is not a problem it looks like he is running the dry sump system so no probs

Yeah! I wondered about that which means that the sump is on top!!!

1340 but hand crank the wrong side so maybe he is running the engine upside down hence the air intake on the top !!!

Definitely Pratt and Whitney Wasp
(ID by rocker covers, cylinder shape and hand crank start)
Either 985 or 1340 – difficult to tell from this angle – hand crank suggests 1340
Cheers
