If I was to hire a aircraft out for example could I provide my flying services in exchange for free?
For example: Hire a aircraft and if you want a safetly pilot or you do not have a licence we will provide you with a free pilot. (not charging for your flying services)
Your not charging for your flight and your just hiring out the aircraft and providing a free pilot service, is it o.k to do that?
What I mean is can you hire out aircraft to the general public and provide a free pilot service with the intention of making some money with your aircraft, NOT YOUR FLYING.
So in a way do some charter, without getting paid to fly.
This has been bugging me for some time, doe’s any person know the answer.
Kind regards

I can understand your frustrations at not being able to obtain a Class 1 (your other thread) it seems you are trying to substitute this into doing something which resembles having a commercial licence, just remember if anyone is going to pay for the aircraft hire (i.e. you fly it and they pay) then they can only pay a portion relative to the amount of peolpe in the plane at the time if you only have a PPL, i.e. if you take 2 passengers then then 1 passenger can pay NO MORE than 33% each, as if they did this would constitute you as being paid for the flight which is blatently a constraint of the PPL and illegal

I think the schools do have their own AOC’s.

Good point.
Not sure about this since flying schools rent aircraft to customers for money but don’t have an AOC (Or do they?)

(The ‘safety pilot’ contingency apart. And this must be for a fully licenced and current pilot who is legally entitled to fly passengers under the three landings in the last 90 days rule.)
He will then book P1. You can book nothing
And don’t forget if you are hiring out your aircraft it must be on publlic category C of A
And I think an AOC would also be needed, please correct me if I’m wrong .

Because the CAA view is that you are flying for hire and reward – the reward being the income you receive from the aircraft hire and / or the ‘free’ flying you are receiving which would otherwise have cost you.
You would also find yourself in very dubious territory with your insurers.

Not that I would but why?
Your not charging for the flight?
Nothing in the air nav order says anything about it?
You are just hiring out the aircraft, im not making a arguement I just don’t see why. 🙂
