Hi,
I believe this is a part from a Spit.
It is made of stainless steel and is triangular in shape with the top bent over there is a rectangular aperture in the centre and two wear marks on the top it is stamped “477” below the aperture.
The dimensions are approx 55mm W x 40mm H.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

I may be wrong here, but I believe it may be Treason to refer to Spitfire parts in “mm”
Being one of the colonies we frequently cross dress..

Def Spit. Have seen a couple from, as Rocketeer says, early models.

What is the provenance?
It doesnt look like any part of the Spitfire I have ever seen.

Nice piece!
Looks like the catch that the canopy locks into when it is in the open position. Fitted to the frame for the ‘fixed’ glazing just behind the pilots head.
