dark light

Can you tell what it is yet??

I found this yesterday – I think it looks rather cute in those German markings! 😀

Anyone know what it is?

Corby Starlet.

The Corby Starlet is an Australian design aircraft and cleared for aeros. Power is/was a VW 2150cc (80hp) but now a firewall froward kit is available to suite the Jabaru 85hp, IMHO gives a better performance, better looks due to a slightly longer nose section because of the lighter engine. Nice little aircraft. Started building one in the early Eighties, stopped due to the usual-house, family and lack of money. Sold on most of the parts to buy an Auster. Still have two sets of plans —somewhere. Contact the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia for further details, I beleive a lot of parts are still being made comercialy, and here the aircraft can be registered in the ultralight cat. Details at www.saaa.com

Plans-built, wood and fabric, VW-powered. 😉

Is a Corby Starlet and not a Colibri MB2.

That’s the one! 😉

I was browsing Starlet stuff when I came across this Canadian-built example for sale.

I’m quite astonished as, for a design that has been around since the Sixties, there are few Starlets around compared to Taylor Monoplanes or KRs in the UK.

At a guess. Looks like its based on a Colibri MB-2, as per Jim Williams’ thread below……
