Can you track down a german aircraft by its Engine data plate ??

Hi All,

I was wondering were i should start, and indeed if it is at all possible ??

I have a Jumo 211 data plate, I bought many moons ago, with provenance, which has turned out to be untrue !:(

Very annoyed about it, but now wonder if there is a way i can trace the aircraft through the engine number ??

it crashed on in the uk, and was dug up decades ago , and now I just dont know if there is a way of me tracking down just what this plate came from ??

Can anyone out there give me any leads to find out, where to look , etc

I believe it was one of only 2 of that type that crashed in the uk . the other coming down in scotland, the hurricane isnt rare, but the amount of crashes of the RAF Mrk IIB in the uk is ??,

most of them went off to the far east i believe .

Yes Andy,

the first image is of the one i have ,

only some of the letters are un deciferable due to damage,

would this only be a component label ??

and if so, would a component from a H series, be able to be fitted to a D| series ??

ie engine ancillery parts, pumps etc .??

if so , this engine plate may have not been a duff one after all, ??

I bought this plate many years ago, also with plates a parts from the Do217 at westerham kent, it was clearly marked, on the back of the board it was on Stuka, Pagham, 1940
now i have been told there is no way this plate could have come from such a aircraft, even if the board was made many years ago, and i believed the man who sold it to me genuine ??
