Canada 3000 Plan On Making a Return!

Great news, or atleast I think so!
Routes will include multiple Caribbean destinations, including SXM and MAN, BFS, PIK and STN in UK. They plan to start in December from Hamilton, a smaller town just outside Toronto.
A couple of 752s to start with. Their website intro page, is slightly tacky!
You’ll see what I mean. 😉

New charter airline called Canada 3000 coming
A new Canadian airline bearing a familiar name is to be launched in the next few weeks.

The airline, to be known as Canada 3000, will be launched on or around Canada Day, July 1, said Michael Low, a Toronto airplane broker.

“We’ll be up and running this winter,” he said.

Low was reluctant to reveal further details pending the “big announcement.” He said the only connection between the new airline and the former Canada 3000 — the charter airline that failed in November, 2001 — is the name.

Canada 3000 ex-president Angus Kinnear isn’t involved in the venture, Low said. Kinnear is chief operating officer of USA 3000 Airlines, a low-fare carrier based in Philadelphia.

According to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, the name Canada 3000 has been registered to a numbered company based in Mississauga. Low is listed as the previous owner of the trademark.

Low wouldn’t say who was behind the venture nor how much start-up capital was in the airline’s coffers.

I think you missed the irony in my last post Joe ? :p Good follow up info all the same. ;):

Touche! as they say..

I think that once this mysterious “new owner” builds the infrastructure into EDI to allow it to handle all of these sought after long haul flights, Edinburgh folk appear to banging on the door for, then you may well get your wish.

Any new owner will be assured of a market..certainly 😎

Until then I still say “yer gaff’s too wee”. 😀 😉 :p

Which isn’t EDI’s fault Allen..it’s too small at the behest
of the present owners, why improve when you run the whole central Scotland shebang?

The same healthy competion at EDI that BAA currently ‘enjoy’ from PIK would send shockwaves
through BAA’s shareholder ranks.

I reckon the London Airport monopoly will be the first
to be broken…followed by Scotland. 😎

Here we go again… 😉

One must remember that both EDI and GLA have the same owners…

Look at the evidence from Teletext holidays:

City second on list of high flyers

PEOPLE in Edinburgh are the second most flighty in Britain, according to plane-travel statistics out today.

Those living in the Capital take an average of 2.13 flights a year.

Topping the table compiled by Teletext Holidays is Surrey Heath with an average of 2.9 flights per person in 2003.

In contrast, Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland was the least flighty area with only 0.23 flights per person taken last year.

Based on responses from more than 27,000 people, the survey showed:

• Nearly 20 million flights were taken in 2003 compared with just over 18 million in 2000;

• More than a million people took five or more plane trips in 2003;

• The proportion of people taking seven or more flights a year has soared by 48 per cent in the past three years;

• The national average per person is one flight a year, with those living near airports taking the most air trips.

Marc Bell, marketing director at teletextholidays.co.uk, said: “Low-cost flying is having a major effect on the accessibility of the skies.

“Jumping aboard for a weekend away is no longer the preserve of the professional classes.”

Indisputable evidence that if Canadian and other long-haul flights were available from EDI – which undoubtably they would under an independent owner – they would be successful. 😀

Will BAA encourage it? They get their money in Scotland
irrespective of which BAA airport you fly from..

That’s what monopolies are all about… 😡

I don’t see PIK being too succesful given the high frequency of Canadian flights already from GLA by Air Canada, Air Transat, Zoom and Canadian Affair ? But good luck to them anyhow.

Lower handling charges at PIK will be reflected in lower
fares… and the success of PIK/Canada routes.

The GLA market will be undoubtably be diluted as a
result. 😮

The YYZ market from GLA is well and truely saturated.
They should come to EDI! 🙂

They’re updating their website often just now. They’ve added a route map.

Who are Canadian Affair?

A tour operator to Canada, and a major one at that.
They are using TCX from EDI, GLA, LGW etc. this year and MYT from MAN too.
You can also book scheduled flights with them.
We used them to Canada back in 1998 when they were using Canada 3000.

Apparently it’ll be a completely new operation, except the same name because it is already a well known brand in Canada inparticular.
Could be a cheap way to SXM! 😀
GLAsgow, where are you getting 2 flights a week from?
They’ve not even announced their route network yet, never mind frequencies! The destinations on their website aren’t set in stone.
Infact nothing is yet, but I hope it works for them.

Well this is a big help! well to us in northern ireland anyway

i flew with this airline a few times and all i have to say about them is that they were outstanding! it was sad to see another good charter service go bankrupt!

i am glad they are comming back on to the commercial aiviation scene now and hope fully they will get some new aircraft and expand! this will maby make the competition at egaa of the three airlines Air Transat , MyTravel and now Canada 3000 make all three drop the prices!

this airline was also apart of royal airlines and they were outstanding aswell!

thx RIPConcorde u have made my day 😀

I met a pilot called Marcus Brace on a Royal airlines flight and when canada 3000 merged with them i met him again! i wonder if he will fly for this airline?

i hope this airline will take after the old CMM

LOOK AT THE PIC I HAVE HAD FOR MY AVTAR!
