Canada Day at the Alberta Aviation Museum Edmonton

The Summer of Thunder at the Alberta Aviation Museum
Canada Day Celebrations Start June 27th!!!


The Alberta Aviation Museum is thundering through the Canada Day Weekend starting on Wednesday June 27th with the arrival of the Discovery Air/Vintage Wings of Canada Canadair F-86 Sabre “Hawk One”

Flown by former Edmontonian Lt. Col. (retired) Dan Dempsey former Snowbird lead,
author air show/display pilot for “Hawk One”. (bio attached)

Shortly after (timing TBA) the Vintage Wings of Canada North American Mustang IV (P-51D) will be joining the flight line at the Alberta Aviation Museum for a visit through
Canada Day and into July.

This legendary aircraft of the Second World War is one of the few in Canadian colours.

Currently scheduled to arrive Friday June 29th will be the Vintage Wings of Canada Boeing Stearman Bi Plane trainer that operated with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War right here in Alberta.

While here the Stearman is more than just a static display as it will be flying as it does
Vintage of Wings of Canada member rides. You must be a member of Vintage Wings of Canada to take part in this program (non members not permitted to participate).

The evening of June 29th a very special FREE treat for Edmonton!

Canadian Astronaut Major Jeremy Hansen will be doing a presentation for children/youth all ages “Pursue your dreams” at 7:00pm.

Major Hansen is Canada’s latest Astronaut and has taken time out from his busy schedule to be here to make this inspiring presentation.

Come early seating is limited.

Canada Day July 1st the Alberta Aviation Museum will be open with all the visiting aircraft on display, the Vintage Wings of Canada member rides and for the Children, the local Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be holding a Free (other than museum admission) Young Eagles day where children between 8 and 16 years will get a flight in a light aircraft, courtesy of the EAA.

Regular museum admissions apply all days of the Canada Day weekend events.

Saw him in Hamilton as well…came out from Alberta to assist Canadian Warplane Heritage with the show!

I saw Dan Dempsey fly the Sabre at Hamilton last weekend. You guys are in for a real treat!
Happy Canada Day for Sunday. I shall be volunteering at the CASM in Ottawa on that day.
