Here are a few pictures taken yesterday at Canada Aviation Museum as part of the celebration of Canada Day July 1st.
Two aircraft from CWM – Hamilton for flybys…
And two from Vintage Wings of Canada arrived at the museum…

And I have read that those RR Merlins used on the NorthStar are quite valueable in that were designed for longer engine life….quite popular with the Reno Racers perhaps?

BC thanks for posting the images. I almost made the trip but have been on the road for the past seven weeks so I decided to sleep in for a change and save my energy for Geneseo next week. The Firefly looks great and I caught the Canso returning home late yesterday when it over flew the Lake Ontario coastline at Port Hope. It was great to see a Canso appear out of the blue without warning. I had to sit and watch for a change as the camera was not at hand.
To bad they no longer fire up some engines on Canada Day. I remember seeing the Hind, Harvard and others ground run in past years.
Cheers,
Eric

Finally nice to see the ‘Star get some proper TLC… Would it be wishful thinking to hope to see those Griffons tuned up and turned over??
Now if only someone can find them a pair of Hercules engines and the Beau could receive the same love and attention. (Isn’t TFCs Beau for sale – with 4 engines included?)

And not to be forgotten was the very nice display put on the DH Buffalo…very impressive with it’s STOL abilities…always looks great in ASR Yellow Scheme…

Also got a chance to view in the new hangar..just a peek at the NorthStar project and also the He162 which was in the smaller restoration shop…
The new storage hanger looks very packed and I think it will be a challenge to photograph much of the aircraft..but they are all in a much better place to ensure their long term survival..
DH Otter and Havard also photographed in the new hangar collection..both used to be fired up on open day’s like Canada Day but this practice seems to have stopped.. 🙁
