Modern forum, historic ! ? who knows…..
It will never happen but makes for an interesting story…… and a prize for whoever mentions the notion to restore the TSR-2 in the 70’s or 80’s !

Not just that. Little idea what the Arrow was for either. A cracking good interceptor (allegedly, and quite possibly really too) but like a certain almost-contemporary British large white warplane it was pushing the limits of the available technology. Nothing wrong with that, but if you concentrate too hard on pushing the boundaries, sometimes you miss something obvious. For the Arrow to replace the F-35 – or even the F-18 / CF-188 – it’ll need:
> An air-to-ground capability. Not in the original spec, let alone a demonstrated capability that can be improved with modern technology.
> Rough-field capability. According to some sources, what really worried the RCAF about putting the CF-105 into service was that stalky undercarriage, and how it would perform on some of the less-well developed forward-deployment airstrips in the far north. Testing did provide some scares with the undercarriage, and Avro were allegedly thinking of a complete redesign for the production aircraft.
> Integration with modern weapons. Now, which bit of testing a weapons system takes the most time? Oh, yes…
I’m an Arrow fan. I’d love to see the thing in the air, and the thought of some of the projected Mach 3 and Mach 4 capable variants makes me drool in a rather unseemly manner. But realistically? Please.

βWe are talking about a basic design that was tested and proven .β¦ It will be recognizable in shape but it wonβt be recognizable beyond that, given new technology and materials.β
