Canadian Airforce to reduce fighter squadrons

From Combat Aircraft Magazine:

The Canadian AF’s commander has announced plans to further reduce the number of operational fighter squadrons as part of the air arm’s transformation plans. The move involves consolidating 416 and 441 Tactical Fighter Squadrons (TFS) into a reformed 409 TFS at 4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. The new 409 TFS, which will reform at Cold Lake on July 6, will operate the 40 CF-188s previously assigned to the disbanding squadrons. The move leaves the CAF with just two operational fighter squadrons at two bases.
