Got a call this a.m. from a Gov. Contact and he has told me that as of Apr 29/11 , the Russell Group Spitfire Mk IX based at Niagara Falls Canada has been sold and is no longer listed in
the Canadian registry
The Transport Canada registry states that it has been exported to the U.K.
What a shame to lose such a gorgeous airplane.
Anyone here anything on the UK side of the world ?

There will be an addendum in Vol. II to cover additions, currently four, additional data and corrections to Vol. I
Vol. II is targetted for the turn of the new year but basically like building/restoring a Spitfire…it will be done when it is done. 🙂
Mark
Having finally ordered my copy of Volume I, I’ll be expecting at least a small piece of EN224 be included!
And speaking of TB885. How is it the spade grip is out their for sale on E bay if someone is restoring this particular bird?
And where are the pictures of all these restorations?!? Why are they such a secret! Can’t we enjoy them too?
OK whining done 🙂

Only two in The Book though. Any info on where the third has come from?
Will Book Two include details, and out of interest when is the publication date aimed for? 🙂

My bad, I should’ve said that I don’t think there are any Mk.Is (currently being rebuilt and associated with Peter Monk) still at Duxford!
Unless ‘4650 is back..?

are these different Spitfire I’s to the ones being restored at Duxford? How many in total?
I don’t believe there are any at Duxford right now since ‘4650, departed. The bulk of them are under the umbrella of Mark One Partners but I don’t know the exact number. I think they’re all at Sandown.

RW382 is known to be owned by someone else and X4650 will pass to an American collector when finished. TD314 has also recently changed hands. But I think you’ll find he owns the rest, including BR601, TB885 and also the MK1 identity X4276. Plus possibly one more MK1 identity yet to be confirmed.
I understand the Biggin Hill faciltity isn’t just for his own Spitfires.Keep going Monkey!!!
Yes BofB you are right.
Steve.

P9372 is the other identity I believe
By: BofB - 27th June 2011 at 07:06
I think its wrong to assume that Peter owns all these aircraft !!!

A link to an old Daily Telegraph article on the Spitfire I is below. I look forward to hearing more of what seems to be (judging by post content) another Spitfire collector – on such a scale!
