Just checkout http://www.halibag.com/ to see how the restoration of NA337 is proceeding, but it appears their website hadsn’t been updated in 18 months. Does anyone know what the latest is? I also heard rumours some time ago that this baby may fly again on day?

I had heard that the 16th was the day… Hopefully when she is all done they have a roll out and she can have her photo taken!

Much as a flying Halifax would be wonderful to see, this one won’t go. The Trenton boys are doing a fabulous job with it, but as James says, they’ve been doing it to very good static condition right from the outset, NOT to airworthy. Component parts sourced elsewhere have therefore also been non-airworthy, but very good static. That said, when she’s done, she’ll be an absolute stunner, I have no doubt.

I believe there is an issue with a 20 mm hole in the main spar precluding a return to flight even if they wanted to. Shame.

It’s too valuable for the Canadian heritage, and rightly so. I was told that they at one point considered to make her taxiable in the same fashion as Lancaster NX611 but the thought of a fire and even total destruction put an end to that.
If all goes to plan the number of Halifaxes could be increasing in the next few years.
Cheers

Saw it this summer. Going great guns. There is A LOT of new metal in it, which is not signed off for an airworthy type restoration, and it’s being rolled into a new building sometime soon, which won’t have access to roll the a/c out, if the (unfortunate) idea hasn’t changed.
No it won’t fly. Not unless they stop & start again. 😀
If you want to see it this summer, have a search on the forum – I posted some pics in July/August, but on dialup, I ain’t searching!
