Canadian Vickers Northrop Delta data plate

Hi, everyone:

Recently, I came into possession of a data plate from a Canadian Vickers-built Northrop Delta:

The constructor’s number correlates to RCAF Delta Mk.III serial number 684:

Now, can anyone tell me anything more about the information on the plate? For example, the “Model F” designation. What might this mean? Vickers’ code for the Delta, perhaps? Also, why is there a letter P after the constructor’s number? Could this refer to the Delta’s intended use as a photographic aircraft? Finally, would this be the main data plate from the cockpit, or is it from a sub-component of the aircraft?

Any all information will be gratefully received!

Hi,

Sorry for the disappeared photo of the data plate – here it is again:

And here is a photo of the Delta the plate belonged to:

Dogsbody, thanks for the wonderful photo of this Delta as an instructional airframe, and the link to the newspaper article!

I must also apologize for not seeing the new replies to this thread, or my PM’s. I’ve been off the board for a bit, and never received any e-mails letting me know that I’d been PM’d. Moving forward, I’ll check more frequently.

Please disregard my posting above. I was reading and typing too fast and did not properly understand what had been posted. Old age is great, ain’t it.
The editing feature doesn’t seem to be functioning properly.

Fleet16b, when I first read your posting #5, I thought it was a reply from Halibag, in response to a PM I had sent to him. I would like to get a copy of the Delta in his original post.

I recently acquired a copy of a photo showing this same Delta. A friend from school had posted it on Facebook. It is from a collection of her father’s photos he took while in the RCAF during WW2. He was an engine mechanic and was posted to a training base on the Canadian prairies. His name is Les Corkum. He was featured in an article in the hometown paper a few years ago, about his time in the RCAF.
