Given recent developments in fighter design, it would appear that 2 diverging schools are emerging:
Those that believe in the virtue of the Canard (a la Rafale/Eurofighter/Su35etc/MiG I42/Su37/Gripen), the arguement being that the canard contributes to overall lift;
and those that believe in the Tailplane (a la F-22/YF-23/JSF contenders), the arguement being that the tailplane is more inherently stable and can have greater moment re aircraft cg.
Which school do you belong to, and why?
