I just have to say how nice it is to see people helping out and not being out to get as much as they can for prices..
yes i agree, i thought the “Spirit” of aviation was long dead, until i undertook this project, its heartwarming tohave so much support, and has boosted my confidence in the aviation world,
thank god there are still alot of genuine people out tere,
once again,
Thanks guys
😀

Hi , well yep i have thought of that, I am not goin to buy a expensive trailer when there are so many knackered caravans about, so intend to get a derelict TWIN AXLE caravan and rip the body off and restore the chassis and modify to place the canberra on ,why spend 500 on a trailer, when there are so many scrap caravans with all the brake systems, etc all in place, so ive been onto the free ads paper, and theres often a old caravan going free, if you keep your nose to the ground, I expect it would have FULL support fom jeremy Clarkeson 😀
Its good to see people being so helpful to one another.
You may wish to consider how to move the cockpit about so that you can work on it easily and in due time move it by road. Like your restoration work a bit of forethought and planning will pay dividends in the longer term. My current project has slowed down as I didn’t work out how to move it easily. When I started it was on car axle stands but luckily before I progressed too far, I realised that it was going to be too heavy to move to get my car in the garage. I am now building a garage trolly that I can pull up onto a car transporter. Just like my early days in aircraft restoration, when we considered calling ourselves a Hut Restoration Society as we spent more time repairing the old building we used than the airframes we had. We also ensured that we only collected what we had space for!

wh887
Its got a crew hatch Chris, it can be seen in the image I supplied you, don’t forget that I have found replacements for the canopy and nose glazing.
Ok, i forgot that one Nige,
dont need to find a canopy and hatch,
Now where to find seats, and coloumn,
Cripes i hate to think how much the seats will cost, i am not paying e-bay prices for em,
thanks all of you for your support, I promise to fill my side of the bargain,
She will look resplendant when i have finished her, especailly with the people helping me,
I am in a conundrum as to what to paint her, I wanted to put her back into her 1955 colours whilst with 542, But Corgi have made a model of her with fradu, as No 847, now i am wondering if it would look to stupid to keep one side as her last paint scheme. and the other as her first paint scheme,
1955- 1992
do you think this would look stupid, ??
i am not sure myself, really i suppose its gotta be one or the other, 😀

Its amazing that a cockpit section can be dumped like that in this day and age (being very collectable now), can you divalge where it was?
Very glad that Merkle et all have got hold of it, especially if it has a WZ link.
