G-AOHL
Hi,
The Viscount is G-AOHL, the old BAF cabin trainer. I have bought it to add to my collection at Pershore, and should be transporting it w/c 31 Oct.

Viscount cockpit
The Viscount cockpit was up for sale itself up to a week or so ago, don’t know if it was sold, or it’s just awaiting re-posting.

Pete – never seen the Beech 18 Bus, have seen a C47 on a school bus chassis…
On American ebay a few weeks ago a specialist coachbuilding firm was offering a Boeing 727 fuselage (okay, the front half of a 727 fuselage) already mounted on a chassis from a Mercedes-Benz bus.
[Edit – it’s still there. Item number 4579294255] http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Boeing-727-Jet-Limo-Tour-Bus-Limousine-Billboard-YOU_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6728QQitemZ4579294255QQrdZ1
Isn’t this how several historic types were recovered? Having been turned into caravans, houseboats, etc?
What goes around, may come back around. Wonder how a Canberra nose might suit a small-block chevrolet engine? 😀

Bostin, it was done in the USA with a Beech 18 fuselage. You might be onto something there…. Worth trying..

At the time I think it had a blue globe on the tail fin – not sure what that was all about!
That was the badge of 1 PRU. Initially the PR.9s from Wyton’s 39 Sqn were transferred to this PRU when they moved to Marham. Later though they discarded the “Globe” and became 39 Sqn again with the winged bomb on the fin.

Is that a Viscount nose I saw next to the Andover fuselage for sale?
Looks like a Viscount to me!

Nice idea mate 😀
Funnily enough I was thinking something similar myself today.
I would love to graft the Andover or similar fuselage to a bare bus chassis, with the driving controls built into the cockpit, and the eng/transmission tucked neatly away in the hold. Then I could make a mint doing ‘AirCoach’ tours round the countries aviation hotspots, doing enthusiast trips.
It’s either a very good idea, or I need to get out more!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Hmm somewhere I have some lovely pics of XH175 taken at St Mawgan in Aug 1986 – the first PR9 I ever saw (apart from the Shorts SC9).
At the time I think it had a blue globe on the tail fin – not sure what that was all about!

Would love the Bandit and make it into a mobile home/camper :):):) if only the price was about 50% less would be a viable project..

I went round Boscombe Down a few years ago and we were allowed into a white/grey Andover CC2 which they had acquired from the QF. I seem to remember being told that it was suffering from a fair amount of corrosion. Maybe that was the one that ended up at Stock.

I must check on the Queens Flight connection because I thought they were accounted for.
By: J31/32 - 29th September 2005 at 08:18
The andover is ripe for a museum. Enthusiast interest plus the Queens flight connection appeals to the public. I’d bid but i’m skint and will be for ever!
