Hi Forum,
been mulling this one over for a little while, but it seems to make sense, especially now the Canberra is no longer in Service, and was one of the longest or even dare i say “the” Longest serving aircraft type with the RAF/FAA,
I wondered being there are quite a few full airframes/Cockpits in the country
and i am sure there are a few under dying a death on firedumps etc, that all those people with a interest in the canberra, whatever it may be from collectors, restorers,ex service crew, the list is endless,
Perhaps some people would like to join together and start a group/society , etc etc. to promote the long life of the canberra, and to preserve what we can for the future, help one another with advice, swap parts ,etc etc,
would anyone be up for that idea, we have the Bucc society, meteor flight,
a hunter group, (not sure about Vampire) but most aircraft have some sort of preservation society, and i thought it would be fitting if britains 1st jet Bomber had a group to call its own as well, with such a long and colourful service history surely it is something worth while ,
would just like to hear what sort of feed back on this subject, if enough interest is generated, it could be worth a go,
your thoughts would be appreciated,
kind regards
Chris C
Ps
I know i have RAF WZ to think about, but the canberra role is a more personal one for me ,and also RAF WZ I hope will have a big part to play in Canberra preservation, (from small acorns) as the saying goes 😀

That sounds brilliant -can you let us know more?
With respect for privacy of the current owner all i can tell you is that it is an Australian B.Mk20, it isnt the a/c that makes up my username, A84-232, as the owners of that a/c (Avalon Airfield) were not interested in selling it.
The a/c i am negotiating for was one of the last to leave RAAF service, it has a combat record having served in Vietnam, it is not in running condition presently but the airframe is sound with a substantial amount of fatigue life remaining, my intent is to return it initially tp ground running condition pending a survey and budget estimate for a return to airworthiness, as there are currently no B.Mk20’s flying, a crying shame i think.

The Canberra Association and / or 81 Squadron Association are reputed to have some interest in the PR.7 WH791 that is on loan at Newark Air Museum.
The airframe is currently painted in 31 Squadron markings and wears a fictitious serial WH972; the work being done by members of the 31 Squadron Association and a local ATC Unit.
The Canberra Association have also held several reunion events at Newark in the past to celebrate various Canberra Anniversaries.
