Canberra in Prototype scheme

I’m writing this from work on Wednesday, with the sun blazing outside. Yesterday I went to Marham on my day off and the weather was the complete bloody opposite – the Law of the Spotter strikes again! 🙁

Managed to get a few shots of the Canberra painted up in the special prototype retro scheme… Apologies for them being a bit dark. The heavens opened just after they landed. And the pics are a bit small – Photobucket took exception to the file size!

surely there could be a use for them doing some kind of mapping/survey work, with a private operator?

A couple of Canberras do this in the States I think.

Brilliant photos, thanks so much for sharing!

Incidentally, does anybody know what the future is for these Canberras after their imminent (did I hear next year  ) retirement. Whilst we would all obviously like to see them preserved (flying or otherwise) in good homes, surely there could be a use for them doing some kind of mapping/survey work, with a private operator?

It got very wet when they landed – but that was definitely the rain…

Lucky sod to get those two in formation!

Had one of those “trembling with excitement” moments in the field as I saw them approaching in formation. Words can’t describe how gutted I was with the weather though. Hopefully now “VN799” is back on squadron strength after service she’ll be a more regular sight.

No – using a Canon 300D this year. 100-400mm lens for those shots. Still getting to grips with the kit though… 😉
