A few years ago I remember driving past a farm yard somewhere in Worcestershire, I think it was near Tewkesbury and seeing a canberra fuselage lying in a farm yard, just visible from the side of the road. I was just wondering if anyone knew which canberra this was and what has become of it,
Cheers!

Vulture, do you have any more pics of XA459 at WW?
There were (very optimisticlly, and possibly unreliable) whispers about making it airworthy, has anyone got further news on that?

Dont shoot the messenger – I just copied the link from Demobbed which says White Waltham 😮

DeMobbed and yourself are correct Jon, it’s at White Waltham. As Nigel said, it’s merely an old photo taken when at Membury.

That isn’t the location at White Waltham in that pic though, there is a video on youtube of its XA459s movement to WW.
I believe that is the Gannet that had a tragic ownership pastedit, sorry BuccSociety, just seen your post

Did that chap ever have a Scimitar in his yard?
He had a Sea Hawk. The aircraft in that yard are in a dire state and cannot be long for this world.
The Hunter spoken of is/was at Longdon. You can’t see it from the road anymore.

Speaking of aircraft left lying around the place, I have an idea for a photo project – perhaps you chaps could help, do you know of any complete a/c left in farms, yards etc, around the Bromsgrove area (with within 5-10 miles)
Cheers

I always wanted to know what the Gannet was I could see behind a wall going around the ring-road in Cirencester.

You didn’t say what road you were on but there used to be a few cockpits around the old Jet Age Museum hangar at Staverton which you could just about see from the old Cheltenham/Gloucester road.

There’s a private collection at Birlingham, near Pershore. Hunter, Meteor, Sea Hawk, JP and a Vampire IIRC, can’t remeber a Canberra though…

There’s a possibility thats the place, but I’m pretty sure it was a canberra fuselage, visible from the road and I think it was on the malverns side of the M5! Terrible to see the aircraft in that state, but maybe if they weren’t there they may have been scrapped?

Interesting suggestions, I would think I saw it in 04-03 and I’m pretty sure it was a canberra but cannot remember if it was just the cockpit or the complete fuselage, it certainly made me look twice!

I talked to guy a good few years ago at an agricultural show near Ludlow. He had a private museum on his farm and had a canberra cockpit. He gave me a card (with a plane on it) which i have now long lost. There was an offer of a visit but I stupidly never took it up…. A pathetic lack of detail but he seemed genuine.

Hunter?
Not aware of any Canberra fuselages lying around in Worcs lately, are you sure it wasn’t the stripey (Defence School of Medicine) hunter XL536 up near Upton way you saw? It is currently in a dismantled state on a farm up there..possibilty?
