As promised I have just received photos of Midairs Canberra XH134 in Vintage Flyers facility at Kemble. These photos are several weeks old so work has progressed considerably since these photos, I am told that ground runs will take place in approximately 2 weeks and depending on approvals first flight in 4 to 6 weeks. I cant wait!! I will post dates as and when I get confirmation.

Any more news on this? Surely must be getting fairly close to first flight by now?

The PR.9 uses the Avon 200 series, so is different to all the other Canberra variants that use various 100 series engines.
It’s the same series but a different Mk (206) to the Vixen (208) and later Hunters (203/207), I wouldn’t know if they could be physically interchanged, but I doubt paperwork issues would allow it.
My understanding us that a good spares and engine package came with these Canberras to allow them to be supported.
The earlier type Canberra engine seems to be quite hard to source now.

What is the supply of Avon engines like? Does the Canberra share an interchangable variant with the hunters, sea vixen etc?

how are her two sister a/c getting on?
One of them, XH131, went to the museum at Long Kesh, N.Ireland in 2010.

XH134 was reported as undertaking Taxing trials elsewhere yesterday

My wife’s cousin flew them so I had a few chances to “get up close” and living for many years near Wyton they were a daily pleasure! Can’t wait to see this in the air again.

I saw the penultimate display at Waddington and loved it. Having not seen a flyer for a long time, this is worth the wait. Perhaps together with WK163 if money allows?

For me this is one of the most anticipated additions to the airshow scene this year. I just hope airshow organisers give it a chance and book it. As a flyer its unique!!

Again, there are others that can answer that question much better than me, but in a word – yes 🙂

Just one question.
How is it that an aircraft such as the Canberra (as well as many other ex-military jets) are allowed to fly in private hands ?
Is it because they are not classified as a “complex aircraft” ?

Just thought, i’m fairly certain it was XH134 that i got to sit in at Kemble in 2009 :). I just hope airshow organisers give her plenty of bookings once she’s airworthy again. A Vulcan, Canberra, Hunter, Meteor, Vampire formation would be much appreciated 😎
