CanJet Confirms New Aircraft Arrival
Julie N. Gossen, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer of CanJet, Canada’s Low-Fare Airline, confirmed today that the carrier has taken delivery of the first of its new type of aircraft.
She stated, ”Our customers and our employees have been awaiting this positive news and I am very pleased that the 7th aircraft to join the CanJet fleet is a Boeing 737-500 series configured with 120 comfortably spaced leather seats.” She further stated, “This aircraft type, to be followed shortly by similar aircraft, has now been certified for commercial operations by Transport Canada and will join our fleet shortly. The 737-500 provides CanJet with an interim solution to our immediate capacity requirements while we continue negotiations with manufacturers regarding our eventual choice of aircraft for the longer term.”
CanJet’s new Boeing 737-500 aircraft features an electronic flight instrument system and high-bypass CFM56 turbofan engines. Ms. Gossen pointed out the 737-500 will allow CanJet to fly far greater distances with 20% more fuel efficiency than the airline’s current fleet of Boeing 737-200’s. She said, “This new Boeing 737-500 type presents a number of new route opportunities for the airline as we expand into new markets.”
CanJet Airlines is a division of IMP Group Limited, Halifax, Nova Scotia, recently selected as one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Managed Companies and one of Canada’s largest aviation and aerospace companies.
