Hi all
Im going to be buying a brand new digital camera next week
im having an upgrade from my previous camera
ive got £200 to play with and ive heard some good reviews about the canon powershot s5
i was wondering if anybody has any comments regarding this camera
also any pictures used with this camera of aircraft
or if you feel this isnt a great camera to buy and would refer me to another one obviously within my budget
thanks

I have one. It’s fine.
Some low res pictures from this week here

The only significant irritation is that the lens cap is not great at staying on.
Battery life (I use rechargeables) is particularly good.
A 2Mb card SD card costs nothing these days and holds hundreds of shots even at max res.
The super macro is fantastic – but has very little application to aviation photography

Canon do make very good compacts. Cant speak for the one youre looking at but I bought a 650 is off ebay recently. Saved a considerable amount, even with tax and its a really good camera. I quite often take it out and about instead of my Nikon D70-the quality of the images is comparable.
