cargo version ?

does anybody know if the airbus A330-200 OR A340-200 is made or operated as a cargo plane ? or if not is there any plans to ?

It is possible that the A340-200 and -300 will see cargo service early because they are not competitive enough. Lufthansa for example will decide about a successor for its 39-strong A340-200/-300 fleet in the coming years, maybe even catch launch customer benefits from Airbus by signing for the A350.

yeah aint there a a330 conversion working the falklands run for the raf while the tristars are busy with IRAQ

sorry people i meant theres a charter company doing the route on behalf of the raf

As far as I am aware there isn’t an A330 flying for the RAF.

It would certainly be interesting to see whether Airbus would decide to make cargo conversions with announcement of the 747-X and the 777 frieghters, or will they rely purely on the 380F and A300F to do the job for them.

Will happen in years to come but at the moment they are too valuable to enter that market as conversions.

Neither are in a pure cargo form at the moment, although inevitably it will happen at some stage. The closest we are to it is their conversion to Tankers for various Air Forces. The A330 for the RAF, and I think now the A342 for the French, both of which should see service sometime this decade.
