Hello all!
My first of many post`s here!
I`m currently looking for any info on CASA 2-111 G-AWHB,from it`s time in storage in the 1980/90`s though it`s apperance in”A piece of cake” to today.
This aircraft was in storage at my father in laws coal shed @ sheperth hertfordshire(listed as royston in wrecks and relics).
It was also stored here with “we think” a harvard and “proctor(?)” from the paul raymonds collection.
any information welcome.
many regards,
Ben.

One for Dave Burke…….
Can you shed any light on the life & times of the other CASA 2-111 nose & parts that have just been featured in a magazine (Flypast ?) as being offered for sale in Austria ?
I believe the nose & center section where at Firbeck many moons ago, plus it utilised other bits from a genuine He111 that where recovered by divers from a fjord and subsequently moved to Duxford.
I think the fin of which is/was still there against a wall in the Superhanger.
Cheers…..

The piece at Thameside is a wing box section which I viewed about five years ago. I spent a lot of time in the 1990’s tracking down Proctor’s and sadly the Kenley machine
ws destroyed.

[QUOTE=David Burke]The Proctor was bought by Trent Aero and sold on to a ‘collector’ near Kenley
who subsequently destroyed it!
David, do you know for certain that this airframe was lost, as at one time it was rumoured to have been joining Thameside Aviation Museum.
Did Ken Ellis (wrecks and relics) finally clear this airframe off the lists or is it just currently lost like the Battle of Britain film Proctuka.
I know of this Kenley collector, if the airframe was ‘destroyed’ components of G-ANZJ would have been saved, I’m sure.

The Proctor was bought by Trent Aero and sold on to a ‘collector’ near Kenley
who subsequently destroyed it! The Harvard was bought by the RAFM and restored for display initially at Newark and now at Hendon if my memory serves me right!

Welcome to the forum, CF,
I think Septic has a bit more info. IIRC, it was being worked on slowly over a few years in the 90s, as Sea Fury Fan’s photos show. Again, I’m not sure, but I think there was problems with the spars, so it wan’t ever going to be a flyer again without a LOT of investment.
Cheers

Thanks for all the info & pics keep it coming!
I`m trying to put together a little portfolio of the aircraft for the in-laws.
It did not mean anything to them at the time when they had them stored 20ft away from there house, but now they have developed an interest.
Funny thing is the farther in-law was asked what he would like in return for the favour of storing the aircraft.
He picked a sword!!
I think i might of had a aircraft!!!
If only i had married into the family earlier!!! 😀
Ah yes:92fis it`s EGSC,my typing skills and grammer leave little to be desired!! 😀

Well, help it may or may not, but there is a pic of the Heinkel/CASA in its “crashed” state when used for the filming of Piece of Cake in the book “How they made a Piece of Cake”, if that is of any interest??
