the next James Bond film, ‘Casino Royale’, will have a much younger James Bond – aged 28. Sir Roger Moore is picking Ewen Macgregor to take on the role – I think he’d do well in it.
It will also have no Q character and no gadgets!
They say they want to return to the more traditional stories where they’re thrillers rather than Hollywood special effects blockbusters. This I think is a good thing, some of the best Bond films are the earliest, From Russia With Love especially.
But I wonder if the audience will appreciate this. What do you guys think?

Yeah.but when Halle Berry strolled out of the sea and made her way up to the bar,in “that” orange bikini, don`t you wish it was your b+++s that she wanted to suck 😀
That Halle Berry scene was indeed very nice, and was a reflection by the makers to emulate the famous Ursula Andress scene in Dr. No.
In the book of Dr. No, Andress’s character was naked as she strode from the sea! So, if these guys want to make the films more like the books these days… I won’t complain! 😀
I remember when production began for Die Another Day, because it was some special milestone (first of the millenium or 20th film or something) they had hoped to get as many of the original Bond girls and Bond stars to do cameos in the background. I don’t think they had any from what I saw, but it was laced with several reflective in-jokes and scenes, like the Berry/Andress scene. Another was when Brosnan picks up the birdwatching book – the very book where Fleming pinched the name James Bond from.

Sounds good to me, Die Another Day was waaaaay too far fetched, even for a 17 year old!

Hmm, that Paul Haggis chap .
That Paul Haggis chap has just been awarded a “statue” for directing Crash, which,in my humble opinion,is the best “acting” film,as opposed to the best “Hollywood Blockbuster”,of this year.I look forward to the end result 😀

Last I heard was that Pierce Brosnan was back in the picture to play Bond again. Can’t say that it bothers me in the least 😀
I truly enjoyed Pierce Brosnan as James Band in the last four Bond flicks. However, considering how old he is, could he still perform this role which can at times be demanding as far as the stunts are concerned.

Ian Flemming`s book was not mentioned in the original post.
Wether Q or M is mentioned in the James Bond books I can`t remember.I will have to re-read one to refresh my memory.

Yes, but it was the FILM that was the spoof and had nothing to do with the book. I was simply saying that the book has been filmed before too, that’s all.

Your post refered to the next James Bond FILM .
My input was in relation to the film ONLY 😉

I note the director of the new film is another Kiwi, Martin Campbell, following on from Lee Tamahori with ‘Die Another Day’.

In this film,if I remember correctly,Sir James Bond comes out of retierment to take on S.M.E.R.S.H. Don`t you think that Ewan MacGregor is a little young to play this part,or are they only using the title Casino Royale and totally changing the story
The original, staring David Niven was a load of “Poo-Doo” A right mess. The only thing I can see MacGregor bringing to the roll of J.B.is the accent. The best Bond ever was Connery 😎 with Brosnan a very close second 🙂
I reckon this is another “Hollywood run out of ideas” films.
Er, the film you’re thinking of “used the title and changed the story”. That was a total nonsense film, a spoof of the Bond films that had little to do with the book and nothing to do with the official film series.
The real story is a normal (not old, not retired, not Sir) James Bond who has to outwit his baddie opponent at gambling in a casino whilst tryong to avoid being killed.
The book has been filmed once – for US TV starring Barry Nelson – who was the first James Bond actor – and the great Peter Lorre and the baddy boss! It was of course Americanised, but not too bad!

Hmm, that Paul Haggis chap isn’t mentioned at all on IMDb’s page for the film. They’ve either changed scriptwriters or he’s making it all up…
