I bought the March issue and found an article called “Catastrophe”. It made a number of allegations about the F 22 in the section, “Unseen Saviour”. Among them are:
A. Inability to communicate with other aircraft because it lacks a Link 16 or other datalink package.
B. The helmet-cueing sight, cannon and air to air missile envisioned for the aircraft are not here yet.
C. The forward fuselage boom is flawed.
I tried searching through Trade articles listed at the F 22 site and I can’t find any of these negatives and I find the aircraft has been passed for service. The aircraft seems to be finding and taking out intruder aircraft in exercises without any problems as well. I am a bit confused by the the gushing accolades in American journals and the findings of this article. Is there any way to find out what sources the author used?
