Hi All,
When my new EF 70-200L f4 arrived today the first thing I did was make damned good use of it (or at least try), by whacking it on my 30D and heading up to the local! I have to say, I’m stunned by its performance. Having tried Grey Area’s out a couple of years ago and been more than impressed I decided to get myself one, and on opening the first images I just sat with my jaw on the floor at the sharpness coming straight form the camera… I’ve never had anything like it before! I occasionally missed not having more than 200mm but in all honesty, what this lens lacks in terms of focal length it generally makes up for in image quality.
I’m still playing with sharpening settings trying to find out what works best. It’s unusual not having to pile on loads of sharpening when you’re more used to lenses that require it!
Anyway… On with some photos…
And the star catch of the day (despite the fact she came in during the dullest time of the day) was this… G-LSAJ, Jet2’s latest addition to their 757 fleet!
As with anything new there generally comes a learning curve. I haven’t quite sussed out exactly how to deal with this lens yet but I’m looking forward to the process of learning. My initial thoughts are basically that optically it’s the best lens I’ve ever had on any of my SLR’s and so far I’m absolutely stunned by its optical brilliance. I’ve never seen sharpness like it straight from the camera and I can’t wait to get out shooting with it more!

WAWKRK – the 737 you mentioned will have been a day trip private charter. Most of them are Jewish or School groups heading for day trips to Autswitz.

I saw a Jet2 737 parked up in Krakow on Tuesday.
Already forgot the reg but everyhing closed up like it was not going anywhere.
I was late for my flight so no time to check but I thought I saw an LS flight code on the screen showing Cardiff. Can anyone enlighten me?

Very nice shots as always Paul! Good to see you’re getting on well with your new kit.
Just checked Jet2s website to see what the prices on their LBA – Newark flights were like. Don’t know if you already knew this, but the flights are only being operated on selected days in November and December. Which is a bummer, because I hoped it would be a cheaper way to get state-side easily. Zoom still offer the cheapest prices at under £200 each way though.

…and just to make it even more special, Jet2.com have already branded this a/c to market one of their latest destinations as well!:D

Great shots there Paul,
I like the second FR one… i think it may be due to me using that 738 when going to NYO.. (on the basis that they have only badged one up as Nykoping.)
