Airbus makes emergency landing From correspondents in Hong Kong A CATHAY Pacific Airways flight bound for Tokyo made an emergency landing at Hong Kong’s international airport today after crew members sighted smoke emerging from the cockpit.
No injuries were reported.
The crew noticed the smoke shortly after takeoff and the Airbus 340 aircraft turned back and landed a half-hour later, said Cathay Pacific spokeswoman Rosita Ng.
The flight, CX508, was carrying 47 passengers. The number of crew members was not immediately available.
The source of the smoke wasn’t immediately known.

By using an A346 on LHR-HKG they can now carry 30 tonnes of cargo on each sector pretty well rendering all moneys taken from passengers as pure profit apparantly!
I gather that tech problems on most Airbuses are cured by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL!

Well, the amount of cargo that can be carried in the belly can make it a profitable flight you know, with only a few pax carried.

There is 12 crews onboard…and with 47 pax with total 59 people.
It was heading to Tokyo.
I got from the Hong Kong Chinese newspaper…(Ming Pao)
wow 47 pax but 12 crew members?? poor CX
