Cavalier Mustang wreckage

The July/August 2005 edition of Air Enthusiast displays on page 26 a photo of the remains of a Cavalier F-51D Mustang.
For those forum members who may have seen the magazine, any idea if that part belongs to the ventral air intake, carburator intake trunk, or elsewhere?
