Recently I rediscovered a couple’a images on my PC showing some Hurris escorting 12th BG B-25s in the CBI, and thought some here might be interested in them. I also have some questions…

My first question is, which unit were these ships from… 5 Sqn?
And second, are these recce ships? I’m not at all familiar with the configuration of any of the PR mods made to Hurris in the field, but that dark square on the lower mid fuselage of each ship looks like a camera window to me.
Any other information would be most welcome.

Excellent… thanks much for that Don. I am not an RAF guru, and haven’t much reference on the subject… nor do I have a decent working knowledge of what’s available on the net, RAF-wise. The USAAF is another story, but that’s for another thread.
Anyhoo, the majority of what you’ve thrown out here is most welcome.
The ID letter on the far ship in the first photo is ‘D’. Here’s a crop from the original scan…
I’ll try to contact that 17 Sqn historian and get him in touch with the owner of the photos. Thanks again.
