Central Gunnery School Sutton Bridge Spitfire codes?

Hello,

Me again with another Spitfire query….

Researching into Spitfire II P9713, the one that George Beurling bailed out of on the 9th June 1943 when it was at Sutton Bridge. Did aircraft based with that unit wear codes as can’t seem to find any reference to them, or did they wear the markings of their previous units?

Perhaps I should just stick to Harvards and leave Spitfires alone!

Best wishes,

Martin

The Central Gunnery School used a single letter letter code on its Spitfires

Known examples are Mk II P7973 R-H, AB210 D-K and also AR501 D-K.

I would check the serial number of your Beurling Spitfire. Try P7913
