Can anyone help me find out about a cessna 150 that crashed into a mountain somewhere in scotland.
My dads just been on a holiday to scotland and it reminded him of someone he used to know through work who bought the mentioned cessna and apparently was killed shortly after.
He said it was about 1980/81 perhaps. He doesnt know the reg.
I cant find much in the way of records online to look through?
cheers

What was the identity of the Cessna, which crashed after take off from Glenforsa, I think some time in the ’70s.
Did they ever solve the mystery of what happened as I seem to recall the aircraft was found in the water, whilst the pilot’s body was found some time later propped up against a tree?

your dad might be thinking of Ben Ledi, above Callander in the Trossachs. A light aircraft was found near the summit in November 1981, after a 2 day search.
edit to add:
“High ground wrecks and relics” gives G-BFHL, a Cessna 150, on Ben Ledi, on 17 Nov 1981

You could try the AAIB website though I don’t think they go back their far with their online records. I have however found them most helpful when contacting them by phone or e-mail.
