Many years ago there was a Cessna Bobcat, OO-AUT from memory, gathering dust in the back of a hangar at Ghent in Belgium.
Does anyone know what happened to it and whether any others of the type came to Europe and perhaps still survive?

Bobcat from Musem in Krakow is ex SP-LEM (1947-52 L.O.T), ex Instytut Lotnictwa -Institute of Aviation (1952 -> SP GLC) c/n 5765.
We had 21 Bobcats, 14 flying, rest of them as source of parts.

Thanks T-21
So presumably SP-GLC would also be an ex L.O.T. machine?

For willip, In the post-war years L.O.T the Polish airline used some UC-78’s to establish airline routes in Poland. The ex 351st USAAF Bomb Group ” hack “from Polebrook became SP-LEB in 1947.

A trawl through Google and specifically www.airliners.net reveals the existence of another Cessna Bobcat SP-GLC, presumably in a Polish museum.
Anyone know its previous history and with which squadron and where did these aircraft serve with the USAAF in Europe before their release onto the civilian market?

I have found further reference to a Bobcat at Angers http://francewarbirds.free.fr/en/associations.html so i suspect this is OO-TIN, at http://www.musee-aviation-angers.fr/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

The one that came from the Netherlands was Cessna UC-78 Bobcat HB-UEF (c/n 5253, Ex: 43-7733). This one was at my airfield {Teuge} for a while and was sold to Belgium as OO-TIN.

I seem to remember seeing a UC-78 Bobcat OO-TIN at Brussels Zaventem back in 1973. Was it this one?

Thanks Avion ancien, I was on a long 14 hour night shift so you can make mistakes. I too found the photo’s superb and it is a very well put together history.

Have found this link but i don’t understand Belgique ! http://www.airfield-ghent.be/research/index.html#bv000006
It’s Dutch, actually, but I’d recommend the website to anyone with an interest in civil light aircraft of the days of yore. I found the photo section absolutely compelling!
