I had a chance to visit CFB Mountainview on Sunday as part of the RC Model event was hosted there…it gave me a great op to photograph much of the stored CF aircraft..not much has changed with regards to the CT-133’s in store but the CT-144’s and CF-5’s have been moved about a bit..a group of CF-5 wrapped up are apparently sold..not sure if this is true or not but maybe someone else might know…I picked out a nice Tutor for myself just in case the DND Crown Assets start to sell the surplus airframes to the public…
Enjoy a look at Canada’s largest nonflying sqn.

A few of those Tutors do appear in above average condition…so I would guess that they were indoors last year….
One of those I would like!!

Good to see one escape and rejoin the team! Mike you might recognize some of these new ones outside as being the ones we saw in the hangar…

Yes James
I photographed her in final Approach at YOW on Friday..a pretty rare sight indeed these days..very nice to see in use in these colours..
See picture of Tutor 144166 still alive and earning her keep 🙂

Its nice to see the ‘ladies’ at Mountain View – but also a shame at the same time.
An interesting note… many of us did a few double-takes on Friday at YOW as a pristine Tutor rolled in with ferry tanks. Not a civil example but a reactivated CF bird. Later that night I was speaking with a long-time CF Tutor tech from the Snowbirds. He told me they have about 20 active for the Snowbirds’ use and are continually reactivating more as hacks, etc for use across the country.

The T-bird are my favorites at MW..I was really hoping that they would one day find a civilian buyer not much seems to have materialized with them…
I really like those in the all Black Scheme..

Yes Mike..the commissioner on Sunday was quite chatty and friendly with us..he did stop to have a chat with me but pretty much left us on own to look about..
I was interested in looking in the Buffalo but I thought I was pushing my luck as it was…

BC,
Looks like you had no problem getting up close to the aircraft! The commissionaire on duty Saturday morning was all over anyone even thinking of walking near the aircraft. I was told twice not to go any further!
Below are a few photos I merged together.

I think I did see you at Carp..I was with the WIX lads…
It was a pretty good airshow..even if the fields were alittle wet…
Mountainview was very HOT temperature wise..
Yes, I made a short visit with Mike, Steve and the boys. I ended up hiking it to the other end of the flight line for the show. I have never walked through so much water in my life. Needed hip waders.

Great shots. If it was not for the Ottawa show I would have been there. Thanks for posting.
