cfm versus v2500

Has anyone flown a v2500 A321 before and is it more or less poweful on take off compared to a cfm version.

As could you with that patronising rubbish.

You clearly come across as the mature one here so I withdraw my comment, well done .

Now you’re doing exactly the same thing you’re criticising others for. If you insist on playing the ‘I’m above your level of maturity’ card, at least be consistent with it.

I bow down to your superior maturity and ability to avoid such threads, Tom, but couldn’t you have said that via PM just to prove your point even further? 😉

I corrected that sentence for your benefit. :p

I should quote that and paste it into the ‘what made you smile today’ thread! 😀

Are you just interested in the figures, or as suggested, interested in how it ‘feels’ when trolling?

I may of been guilty of this in the past so as a result I steer clear where appropriate but this appeared to be a fair enough question. If you can’t answer without having a dig at the guy, don’t bother .

I think he’s more interested in wasting bandwidth! 😀

So that and the following replies weren’t right?

Someone pass me a gun!

Is this a joke?

As has been said time and time again, yes tommy does very often come up with questions that may seem pointless and what not but at least EGTC and Tom have tried to answer the question seriously without resorting to the sarcasm that seems to litter tommys threads.

I know that we have more problems with V2500 engined A320’s than the CFM versions off of the LBA runway to the likes of the Canaries and Turkey, so I would guess that the CFM engine is more powerful. You wouldn’t probably be able to feel any difference on take off as a passenger though.

Someone with more engineering knowledge than me would be able to explain better, but I know the V2500 engines has a ‘bump’ button that gives extra power on take off from airports with short/hot runways, and this can only be used a certain number of times before the engine needs serious maintenance.

I found this topic..

http://www.pprune.org/engineers-technicians/371417-iae-v25-engine.html

It has responses from aircraft engineers/pilots who work with these engines and are qualified to answer specific questions. Not sure if the topic answers the specific thrust question but gives a good comparison between the two different types.

Mind you, its worth remembering, theres a lot of factors that go into take off, some of which have already been discussed here. Are you just interested in the figures, or as suggested, interested in how it ‘feels’ when rolling?

are v2500’s or cfm’s more powerful overall.
Manchester to Corfu on a Monarch A321, full load in summer and a large runway, yet at corfu a much shorter runway.

They’re around the same at roughly 33,000 pounds, but even if one were more powerful it wouldn’t mean anything in terms of how the takeoff roll felt. In the last 8 weeks I’ve flown on 1 A319, 5 A320’s, 4 737-800’s, 1 777-200, 2 777-300’s and a 747-400D. They all felt pretty much the same.

Thrust varies from takeoff to takeoff anyway according to weight, runway length, etc. You’re not going to tell a difference inside the plane. If you want to feel real acceleration then forget jet airliners and book yourself on a Dash-8.
