I think a chopper in to Lukla will be my choice if I ever make Base Camp

My ambition is to go to Base Camp at the foot of Mt Everest.
Even with all the advances humanity has made, in my opinion to stand at the foot of Mt. Everest and simply gaze in awe is a humbling reality that nature is still master of the earth and it’s atmosphere.
After seeing the video footage (thanks Ch 5 and Culpano) I think I shall opt for a chopper from Kathmandu in to Lukla.

Drat. I forgot to record it ! It’s on Saturday at 12.30pm so I’ll have to wait until then. My mate said Gibraltar was on it and the runway cuts across the road and has a level crossing on it ! Not a good idea to risk jumping those.

I was lucky enough to go out there last November, and will be visiting again this Dec, via p&o cruises. Have to say it was one of those things to do before you die, absolutely brilliant. What is the strangest feeling when you arrive at Maho is actually being there, you have seen it in youtube read about it and to be stood there, well blommin big goose bump.

See pic below, have some more will have to dig them out:

Right up until the point where you are unlucky enough to be standing behind an aircraft that has a turbine failure, but what are the chances eh? I’d still do it:D

I would still take that chance 😀
