Update on crash.

Contrary to earlier reports, it now seems that the American pilot and one of the two Russian crew are in hospital in a coma. A criminal investigation has now been opened, which is normal procedure and there is a dispute about the plane, which landed upside down ,about the ownership of the plane. A Russian company is claiming ownership of the plane which arrived in Russia from Geneva on February 2nd.

Correction to the above: It now looks as though the aircraft was N168CK, and not N168KT as posted.

It’s still not an A310 or, for that matter, a Germanwings A319 which was another early candidate. 😎

Reuters are reporting that the Challenger 850 had an engine fire on take off and crashed onto the runway. The plane was operated by a Swiss company and the crew all escaped.

Additional information suggests that the plane might be N168CK, a CL-600-2B19 belonging to the Wells Fargo BAnk.

I understand that the aircraft involved was Canadair RJ N168KT and that it crashed on take-off during a snowstorm.

Recent reports say that only the 3 crew members were aboard at the time and that all escaped.

Sky News!!

It seems that nobody knows for sure what the aircraft was. It looks like it may have been a smaller, business jet.
