Old thread warning – in fact it makes no sense to add to it, so consider it closed.

Dunno, like so many other seemingly important things that maybe TVOC should have disclosed, three errant units have joined them…..
By: vulcan558 - 24th March 2008 at 03:27
Ok, so the funds are in the pot, the possibility of air show appearances has been offered as a reality, what do TVOC need to ensure this all takes place, seems it is dependent on a rather ancient air start unit that is even older and more decrepit than I am, ‘Mutters quietlyinot beard.’
Anyway you lot, somewhere out there sitting under a pile of some other non descript items is a redundant unit, someone, somewhere will know of this item, who owns it and maybe be able too convince them to donate same, how’s about it.
Have the 3 units from Cyprus not arrived over here yet than?

It is now not in the hands of TVOC.
What matters is if any airshow organiser calculates that the added gate money attracted by the Vulcan will outweigh the cost of booking her to appear.
Farnborough, RIAT and……..
Moggy
Biggin Hill, Kemble, Yeovilton, Waddington, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Shoreham, Leuchers all list the Vulcan as “tbc” so must want her there. Question will be is it just interest this year, or can it be enough to keep her going.
I’ve never seen a Vulcan fly and can’t wait.

Waddington has been mentioned in the past, not to go off topic but how about a twist at Waddington? Remove 607 from her ankle chains and being her over to park beside 558! Awesome sight ad photo op!
Nice idea Peter but I cant see it happening. 607 had to be lifted into her current resting place so it will be no simple thing to move her! However the 558 could still be taxied up next to her for a photo or two!!!
558 is listed on Waddington airshow’s web site as flying at the show this year (provisional)!

I think, Farnborough are not interested in XH558. It’s not there cup of tea. My money is on RIAT, Waddington, Jersey & Duxford… if the supporters continue to stump up £50K a month that is.

I’d say remote.
Why?
– The airshow is just over 2 months away
– Currently still raising funds for the season
once funding is secured then the following needs to be done
– crew training
– systems proving
and most importantly of all
– issue of Permit to Fly
Only when the above are done, can a display routine be worked out and practiced.
We all know how long it takes to get certification on aircraft that are much less complex.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much for ‘558 to be at Cosford…….

I would say they both have an equal chance of appearing in the flying display.
Preparations are well underway, and Elvis has nearly finished his check-out.

are you sure you dont mean XH558? XM655 has been groundbound at welelsbourne for 24 years, and realistically wont ever fly again 🙁
