It seems to be a name synonymous with one of the UK’s first warbirds.. namely a P51 Mustang, which was a popular entrant in several air races.
But who was he, what happened to him and what was the story behind his ownership and operation of what was at the time a rather exotic type on the civilian register?
A google search throws up a couple of individuals with that name but i’m not sure if they are ‘the’ Charles Masefield.!

He too was a marvellous man running the BAA and finally London Transport, as it then was. I think it was he who said that passengers should be carried with care and consideration at all times.
