cheap hotels @ manchester airport ???

This question really goes to the residents of manchester, but anyone else who can provide me with info as well please. It is:

I am now travelling to Manchester on 9th July to meet a mate of mine who can only be at Manchester on Wednesday, but the visit is not until Thursday 10th July. Does anyone know a cheap hotel at the airport or in manchester itself. Would prefer a bed and breakfast type because I will hardly be there for more then a bed to crash on as I will probably be at the airport all day. ANyone replies will be useful. This will now put my arrival at the airport around 10:00-10:30 am

Don’t know about prices but the Moathouse is in an excellent position, just a very short walk from the new runway spots.

Let me know what you find, I’m still thinking about staying up there in a couple of weeks for the Champions League traffic.

There’s a good selection.

I used to do my accountancy training in Manchester city centre, (commuting every 2 days by air :)) and I stayed either at the Midland (not so cheap) or the adjacent Premier Lodge (much cheaper, but paradoxically with bigger bedrooms) depending what mood the department secretary was in.

For a good value but convenient hotel I’d recommend the Premier Lodge GMEX by St. Peter’s Square. Next door to the tram station at the Square and thence a short train ride to the Airport via Piccadilly station – www.premierlodge.co.uk

As for the airport, the Radisson SAS is built in to the terminal and I personally like it – a good airport hotel. The rack rate is a bit steep, but they often have deals on. I stayed there for £45 last summer – www.radisson.com

There is a Holiday Inn next to the airport and a few others too.
