Hi folks.
I’m looking for some tickets to NY (probably transferring from my local airport) later in the year. I’ve tried all the usual sites and can’t get anything cheaper than £340, which seems pretty steep when last year I paid £370 for a flight and hotel accomodation in Manhattan (a good hotel at that).
Anyone know any good sites which may be able to offer me a good deal? Or any tips on how to get the best price?
Thanks in advance. 🙂

After the re-build which finished around spring/summer 2002 they finally opened for business. The hotel is attatched to 16 screen cineplex, massive gym, and 5 or 6 restaurents, and it’s next to a mall. Plus you can also walk to the Staten Island Ferry & State of Liberty/Ellis Island boats.
Hotel is situated on 123 North End Avenue, Lower Manhatten.
Cool! I understand it had not been open for long since the attacks on the World Trade Center when we visited. Obviously being virtually next door, the damage was bad. I think it was shut for a good 9 months.
It’s a great hotel, I have to agree! 🙂

Don’t wait too long! KLM is now in their 10 days of internet booking with sometimes heavy discounts on routes.

We had 5 nights at the Embassy Suites near Ground Zero. A very upmarket hotel (perhaps 5*) and flew with United on good flights, too, so we were able to make the most of our trip. I think we paid about £480 for the entire trip (per person) – worth every penny!

How long has KLM had 777’s?
By: Pembo330 - 16th January 2004 at 20:23
Just to let you all know, I’ve got sorted. 🙂
Not so sure its the best deal, but as I’ve continued to check for flights daily, I’ve noticed the prices increasing. Anyway, I got the hotel I wanted and I’m flying KLM (again).
An F70 from Teesside into Amsterdam.
A 767 to Newark
A 777 from JFK back to Amsterdam.
And finally, another F70 back home.
Looking forward to getting a ride on one of the new 777s.
Thanks for all your help. 🙂

Oops 🙁
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps you are best leaving it until closer to the time. Our great New York deal was booked about 2 and a half weeks before travelling. You may not be able just to pack your bags and go, but perhaps to book time off of work and then a book a last minute deal would be best.

T5,
Just to let you know I contacted Oakley Travel and these guys were about £120 more expensive than what I paid for this year. I think the answer will to be wait for a little while.
Thanks for all your help everyone. 🙂

If you have a student card or are under 25 you can book on www.statravel.co.uk. I got tickets to New York for £182, but you can get even cheaper if you go with Air India or alike. The £182 is for BA inc taxes and Virgin are about £200 inc taxes.

Most of the time when I fly UA, I purposely take a stopover in one of the hub cities just so I can maximize mileage (unless I’m flying LAX-JFK in which case I go non-stop due to the excellent business class service on that route) and it usually costs a few dollars more. As far as purchasing tickets on Ebay, who are you buying them off of, the airline or somebody that has already purchased it from an airline or agency?

want cheap tickets go on ebay they always have flight tickets on it

Want cheap fares fly Biman and connect with SNBA, from 60 euros return from Gatwick.
By: grahamskipton - 14th January 2004 at 18:45
I looked at BA for booking three days in New York around December time this year. The cheapest fare I found was £257 inc. Taxes etc. That was from Manchester. I think if you are prepared travel ‘between’ days rather than specify an exact date then the likleyhood is that you will be able to get quite cheap fares. Also try looking at going midweek if atall possible.

YEs, from daka via dubai via brussels to jfk.
KLM sometimes pays you to make a connecting flight( my dad once had it, he payd £860 for a flight to singapore from brussels, but without the connecting flight to amsterdam, it was 950!
Give me your preferred departure and return dates so i can help looking.

I’m assuming Biman Bangladesh uses Brussels as a stopover en route to JFK?

Here’s the Guardian’s opinion of how to save money.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/airlines/story/0,1371,798452,00.html
I have also noticed that the airlines often put extra cheaoper seats on their flights exactly 3 months and again exactly 6 weeks before departure date.
Hope this helps.
