I’m sure most would want to try it but a lot could have second thoughts about the approach shown in the video. That crew was well below the glidepath as noted by their proximity to the hill as they passed over as well as that they landed well short of the runway threshold not to mention the 1000′ aim markers.
Well, that was my point. A pilot is a pilot, regardless of his/her steed. You have to want to fly to be a pilot and this approach (when done correctly) is pure flying! No computers…
I’d love to have a shot of that in a motion sim.

There doesn’t look to be a great deal of runway there unless it’s an optical illusion

I find it very hard to believe ANY pilot wouldn’t want to try that.

Wasn’t landing at the old HK Kai Tak airport a bit of a challenge?
I landed there many times as a passenger & saw many planes land as a ground spectator.
A fair few sharp turns at low level involved, as far as I can recall.

I’d have thought that type of landing would be quite stressful on any commercial pilot

Well, ARE there any pilots out there who wouldn’t fancy that approach with a fully-laden B757 in a strong crosswind?
Don’t leave Sandy in suspense, now….. ๐

I don’t think you’d find a professional pilot that would agree with you

Now THATS a landing.
Looks like a whole bunch of fun for the pilots.

I think that airport will be like Innsbruck or Funachl. You either need a licence to land or it has to be captins only manning the plane. Man or Man i thought that plane was going to hit the top of them trees

Nice video there. goes to show the STOL on a 757:cool:

Oh my god…that was really low.
I do like the advice given by one of the spectators…”Don’t be afraid!”…:D

What struck me initially was how in a rush the pilot was to โplantโ the plane on the runway โ Then again when you look at the length you can understand why.
I am sure that arrivals & departures from that airport are payload restricted! Can anyone confirm this?
Great skill needed & a great job done by the pilot!

That was only posted here a few weeks back!!

I thought the people were standing by the runway threshold given how low the plane was. I couldn’t believe the runway was further down!!
