I’m writing this from the BA exec lounge at Heathrow waiting for my (delayed) flight to Lisbon, after a very interesting hour attempting to check in. The problem is there are no designated queuing area’s for checking in. This resulted in unofficial queues being set up, often in the wrong places, with no guidance from BA staff as to where the people where actualy supposed to be.
With thousands of people descendiing on the airport for the summer holidays this caused havoc, resulting in my Dad having to sort out the system for everyone, arranging people into 2 queues!
How is the system organised in othr places, are there barriers indicating queuing area’s for example?
I have been lucky enough in the past to travel in off peak periods, and this is my first time being caught up in the holiday rush. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there were more than 4 BA staff in T1 dealing with customers!

Well it all went OK after that. The exec lounge is something else! Flight reports in a minute.

If there’s one thing that annoys me about checking in with BA at Glasgow, it’s the ‘one queue, all flights’ check in system, especially when you are constantly barged out the way by business customers, who depsite having a separate check in desk, think nothing of forcing their way to the front of the general queue.
It’s like waiting to be served in a busy supermarket, most annoying when GLA has spare check in desk capacity. I usually try and book with another airline just to avoid the generic BA people pile up.

Sounds like Heathrow is no different to any other airport in the world.

BA is rapidly getting a very bad name this summer.
When I flew with them last, it was a 40min flight from Paris to LHR and it took 80 mins to get the bags. Very bad service.
